The Content Configurator Behind a Museum’s Digital Gallery
A drag-and-drop content management system that lets museum staff build, organise, and publish digital exhibitions without writing a line of code.
Project Overview
Every striking digital gallery hides an unglamorous truth: someone has to keep it updated. ViitorX built the Content Configurator so that someone never needs a developer. It is a web portal that lets museum staff create and manage everything on their digital gallery screens, images, text, and layouts, through a simple drag-and-drop interface. New exhibition opening? Staff build it themselves, preview it, and push it live. No code, no queue, no agency.
Objective
The aim was to put the museum in control of its own screens. The portal needed to:
- Let non-technical museum staff create polished digital gallery content unaided.
- Centralise management of every screen and exhibition in one place.
- Offer flexible content formats with ready-made, professional layouts.
- Streamline the whole workflow from idea to live screen.
Challenges
Running digital displays inside a museum is rarely as simple as it should be:
- Museum teams rarely include designers or developers on call.
- Updating digital displays usually means waiting on an external agency.
- Content comes in many shapes, image, text, or both, across many screens.
- Exported assets had to be simple to hand off to the display systems.
Solutions
We built the portal to put the museum in full control. It includes:
- Drag-and-drop creation: Staff assemble engaging content with no design skill, choosing from preset layouts that always look professional.
- Centralised management: Every screen and exhibition is organised and edited from a single dashboard, the museum’s own content management system.
- Flexible formats: Content can be image with text, image only, or text only, each with rich customisation, so any exhibition fits.
- One-click export: All the content for a given screen downloads as a tidy ZIP, ready to deploy without fuss.
Who It’s For
Any museum, gallery, or visitor attraction running a digital gallery or a wall of screens benefits from owning its own content. The Content Configurator turns what is usually an agency dependency into an in-house capability, and works equally well as a lightweight content management platform for digital signage across a whole building.
Results & Impact
- Lets museum staff build and publish digital gallery content with no code.
- Centralises every screen and digital exhibition in one content management system.
- Supports flexible image and text formats with professional preset layouts.
- Exports a full screen’s content as a single ZIP, ready to deploy.
- Frees the museum from waiting on an agency for everyupdate.
Conclusion
The best technology gets out of the way. By handing museum teams a content management platform they can run themselves, ViitorX turned the digital gallery from a maintenance headache into a living, easily updated canvas. The exhibitions now change as often as the museum wants, not as often as a developer is free.
