A Hard Braking Driving Simulator That Runs in the Browser

Project Overview

Hard braking is where a driver’s habits show. Brake too late, too sharply, or too often, and the data tells a story about risk. ViitorX built an interactive Hard Braking Simulation that lets people feel that moment for themselves, and it runs in an ordinary web browser on both desktop and mobile. No headset, no download. A driver takes the wheel from a first-person view, brakes through realistic vehicle dynamics, and sees their performance scored the way a telematics system would judge it.

Objective

We wanted a driving simulator that makes the physics of braking intuitive, and that anyone could open in seconds. It needed to:

  • Recreate believable vehicle dynamics and the real feel of hard braking.
  • Score each attempt through a telematics-style interface drivers can learn from.
  • Run smoothly in desktop and mobile web browsers, with nothing to install.
  • Turn an abstract safety message into something a driver experiences directly.

Challenges

Teaching braking behaviour is harder than handing someone a leaflet:

  • Real hard-braking practice is dangerous and impossible to repeat safely.
  • Most driving simulators need dedicated hardware or a downloaded app.
  • Drivers rarely connect an abstract telematics score to what their foot is doing.
  • A browser has to deliver convincing vehicle physics without heavy software.

Solutions

We built the whole experience to live on the open web, then tuned it for feel. It includes:

  • First-person driving: A realistic cockpit view with main, side, and rear-view mirrors puts the driver in the seat and in the moment.
  • Telematics scoring: A built-in scoring interface rates each braking attempt, mirroring how real telematics judges smoothness and risk.
  • Driver-controlled settings: Adjustable graphics and a sensitive braking control let users tune the simulation to their device and feel the nuance of braking distance.
  • Browser-native delivery: The entire driving simulator runs in desktop and mobile browsers, so a safety programme can reach anyone with a link.
