Digital Greetings: Turning Museum Art Into Something You Can Send

Project Overview

A museum visit usually ends with a postcard from the gift shop. ViitorX built something warmer. This interactive installation lets visitors turn a museum’s own artworks into personalised digital greetings, adding their own message and a recipient, then sending them off by email. Organised by occasion and brought together with a touch of AI, it transforms a quiet moment of looking into a small act of giving.

Objective

The museum wanted visitors to engage with its art, not just admire it. The app set out to:

  • Let visitors personalise the museum’s artworks into their own digital greeting card.
  • Organise greetings by occasion for effortless browsing on a touchscreen.
  • Use AI to weave a visitor’s message neatly into the chosen artwork.
  • Encourage sharing, so the museum travels with every greeting sent.

Challenges

Designing for personal expression in a public space is its own craft:

  • Visitors needed to personalise artwork without any design skill.
  • Each greeting had to look polished, whatever message a visitor typed.
  • The experience had to stay quick and intuitive on a shared touchscreen kiosk.
  • A growing library of greetings had to stay easy to browse over time.

Solutions

We built the app around the simple joy of making something and sending it. It came together as:

  • Personalised greetings: Visitors choose an artwork, add their own message and recipient, and make a museum piece personally theirs.
  • Occasion-led browsing: Greetings are organised by occasion, so the right artwork is easy to find on a large touchscreen or tablet.
  • AI-assisted composition: A cloud-based AI service blends each visitor’s words into the artwork cleanly, so every digital postcard looks considered.
  • Share by email: Finished greetings go straight to a recipient’s inbox, carrying the museum’s art and name out into the world.

Where It Delivers Value

This kind of interactive installation lifts visitor engagement by turning admiration into participation. It gives a museum a gentle, organic way to extend its reach, since every shared greeting introduces the collection to someone new, and it scales easily as the library of artworks and occasions grows.

Results & Impact

  • Lets visitors turn the museum’s artworks into a personalised digital greeting card.
  • Uses AI to compose each digital postcard so it looks polished, whatever the message.
  • Organises greetings by occasion for quick, friendly browsing.
  • Extends the museum’s reach with every greeting shared by email.
  • Deepens visitor engagement by turning viewing into creating.

Conclusion

Art is meant to be shared, and a greeting is one of the oldest ways we share what matters. By letting MAP’s visitors send its artworks as their own messages, ViitorX turned a museum collection into a way to stay in touch. It is visitor engagement that travels, one digital greeting at a time.
